Bubbagump asked:

I took over the repair and replacment of the starter motor for a briggs stratton 422707, but, when I turn off the mower, the starter keeps going. Is there a wire from the ignition that is suppose to connect to the starter as well as the main red cable that is right there?

  1. The main red cable is the only wire to the starter. I think that you will find that the soleniod is bad and sticking. You can check the ignition switch by putting it in the start position, starter unhooked, and see if you get 12volts when in start and 0 when in run or off. Locate the soleniod and when the starter continues to run, tap the soleniod and see if it stops.
